Not Yet Summer in the Twin Cities
Summer officially kicked off this month, but restaurants in the Twin Cities were in the shade. June sales took a nosedive, down more than 5% for the month, which was especially tough after last month’s growth in the plus column. It means a rocky year for local restaurants, with the trailing 12-month rate down more than 3%. Per the Star Tribune, the local food scene is bigger and better than ever . . . that’s great for diners, but it means more competition and some headwinds for the restaurant business.
