Fast Casual and Full Service DMV restaurant sales for May 2024 are in!
On a seven-day moving average, Full Service ended down -3% from May 2023, and Fast Casual ended with +2% growth compared to last year's numbers.
When looking at monthly averages for year-over-year growth, there wasn't much difference with Fast Casual averaging +2% growth compared to May 2023 sales and Full Service coming in a little lower at -3%.
The beginning of the month started off strong for both segments, peaking at 13% for Fast Casual and 8% for Full Service the first week of May. Mother's Day and Memorial Day Weekend were also where we saw jumps, particularly for Fast Casual.
Delivery sales for the DMV came in at 11% last month, down even further from April's decline. Nationwide delivery as a percentage of sales was 13% for May 2024.
