February 2025 National restaurant sales metrics are in!
The trailing 4-week (28-day) average of year-over-year (YOY) sales for Fast Casual came in at +1.52% and Full Service at -2.67% at the end of February compared to 2024 sales.
Across the 7-day moving average chart, we saw a bump during Valentine's Day weekend, peaking at ~3% growth from last year for Full Service.
Food costs averaged 28% of sales last month, reflecting a -3% drop from January's average.
Roma and plum tomatoes topped our Droppers list with prices -29% and -27% lower on average than in January, followed by more tomatoes and bell peppers. Eggs topped the Movers list, with an average +31% price increase from January. For those of you following along at home, that's a +205% increase in the median price per dozen for MarginEdge customers from October 2024. Here's our most recent national egg price chart.
Regionally, the West ended February with 3% growth.
